Bredon Hill 2005

I activated this summit early evening on Tuesday 14th June 2005.    Click to return to summit index

Monday and Tuesday brought the necessary interruption of work, but being away at a conference, it was at least diluted somewhat by lavish breakfasts, lunches and dinners, and use of the hotel's health spa, pool and steam room.  Monday night saw the remarkable spectacle of hundreds of people walking out on the hapless band in the ballroom to congregate around the big screen in the bar for the Jackson verdict.

Tuesday 3.45pm, and at last, the closing speaker took to the rostrum to bring the conference to a close.  It was a good conference, but that was work, and playtime was approaching fast.  By 3.48pm, I was on the A46 folowing signs for Evesham, later picking up the minor lanes through Overbury to Kemerton.  I turned right by the chapel up the long cul-de-sac to the start of the path.  This was a very easy walk, much easier than those close 5m contours on occasional 1:25000 sheets such as this make it look!  At the summit, a dozen or so mountain bikers were duelling their skills on the hillfort ramparts, while I set up out of the wind in the weird hole in the ground just beyond the summit marker stone.  Things were slow moving at first, but six 2m FM contacts were in the bag before 6pm BST, and I was on the move again.

FT-817 mounted in the rucksack!

Thanks to the following stations, all worked on 2m FM with 2.5 watts:
