Fair Snape Fell 2020

Saturday 6th June 2020 - White Hill G/SP-006, Ward's Stone G/SP-003 & Fair Snape Fell G/SP-007

After Ward's Stone G/SP-003, I followed the satnav to the final waypoint of the day.  This was the cul-de-sac just below the steep imposing summit of Parlick.  I used to climb directly over Parlick to access Fair Snape Fell, but like my most recent visit, I took the more graded path to contour around the side of Parlick.  From the saddle, I angled right to follow up to the true summit, rather than the other option, which is to head west to the trig point.

For the first time in a long day, I actually spotted other people on a hill!  I'd seen no-one else all day, but on the final ascent to the summit of this one, a couple were about 50 yards ahead of me.  They continued past the summit and headed right, so potentially on a circular route.  My own intention was to descend the same way as I'd ascended to save time.  Despite my early start, the day had dragged on and it was now approaching teatime - so a late arrival back home was inevitable.

After the uninspiring results on 6m from the earlier two summits, I set up the 10m-12m gorundplane - but these bands proved even more disappointing!  My tiredness no doubt contributed to a lack of tenacity as I "made do" with a single contest station on 10m CW.  I then gathered the other three QSOs I required for SOTA qualification on the 2m FM handheld.  I descended and commenced the long drive back south to Cheshire.
