Saturday 30th April 2005, Jimmy, Liam & myself set off on the regular M56 route, continuing on the M53, A55 and A483 down to McDonalds at Chirk for breakfast. We were originally heading Yorkshire way for a trio of summits in the Skipton area, but the weather forecast sent us in the opposite direction. After breakfast, we continued through Oswestry, Llansilin and Moelfre, reaching the yard at Moelfre Hall. We ascended Gyrn Moelfre GW/NW-049 on the stony track that swings out of the farmyard and strikes up the hill. At the summit, strong wind then joined the existing drizzle, so I went for a handheld quickie activation. The summit was qualified without difficulty, including the Birmingham Mafia by holding the handy on its side. We didn't expect the bit of wet from the previous day's weather forecast, but updated forecasts on the radio confirmed that the rain was moving north, and that the afternoon should be nice.
