Heath Mynd 2013

After Stiperstones G/WB-003 on Saturday 16th November 2013, I made the short drive to Heath Mynd G/WB-007. Well, a theoretically short drive, for I managed to take a couple of wrong turnings up long narrow twisty Shropshire lanes!

Eventually, I did find the usual parking spot just beyond a gate on the narrow lane. The initial track was very muddy, but I noticed a well trodden line on the grass to the right. I switched to that until reaching a sort of saddle at the corner of the field.

Here I turned right to follow the fence uphill to a further saddle, by a group of young bullocks. Turning right again had me climbing the ridge line to a summit I had only visited twice before. Activating on 12m CW was now a breeze as propagation had opened up to North America. A good job too, as I was having problems with my phone and couldnt self-spot! Eleven QSOs made, all 12m CW.

Lunch!        Tom M1EYP

My flask of Moroccan chick pea soup was taken now for lunch, but I can't say I was impressed. This is one flavour I will not be buying again! After descent, I made the short drive over to Corndon Hill GW/MW-013.
