This photograph, taken by Jimmy, shows me operating at the summit of
Kinder Scout on Friday 21st February 2003 (hence +3 bonus points).
We parked at SK 107 847 as marked on the map. Indeed, there is no
further parking available up the lane to Upper Booth, so we needed to walk up this lane to
pick up the Pennine Way in the farm. An alternative is to park in Edale at the Old
Nag's Head pub and start from the beginning of the Pennine Way. I checked at the pub
and this is in order if you get there early enough for a spot, and especially if you will
be returning there for lunch! Following the Pennine Way requires you to take a right
(signpost for Kinder Downfall). Missing this, as we nearly did, would take you down
to Hayfield. We chose not to navigate across the peat bog in thick fog to try and
find the true summit of Kinder; instead we settled for the trig point at Kinder Low, 633m
ASL, SK 079 871. Lunch and a pint at the Old Nag's Head in Edale was very welcome.
