I activated this summit on Thursday 1st January 2004:   

I got the early start I intended on New Year's Day and headed up to Long Mynd-Pole Bank G/WB-005.  This time it was passable, albeit with care, and I parked in the area at The Shooting Box SO 420 953.  I made the short 10 minute walk to the trig point, and set up the SOTA Beam.  It sadly did not want to remain upright on the hard icy ground and strong winds, so the compromise was in the small hole in the top of the trig point, at an angle with the SOTA pole at only one third of it's usual length!  Four stations were worked, including John GW4BVE and I was back at the car by 9am.
