Friday 3rd July 2020 - Cracoe Fell G/NP-032, Sharp Haw G/NP-029 & Rombalds Moor G/NP-028

Despite previous bad experiences trying to qualify this summit with just a handheld radio, I walked to the summit with just a handheld!  At the summit trig, I managed to make just one contact, so the problem remained!  It was a 70cm contact though - so that was good.

The fallback option, if needed, was the full HF station in my rucksack back at the car.  If it came to that, I would only have to walk a few feet back from the car to be in the activation zone.  In the event, this wasn't required.  I walked about 200 yards back towards the car park along the summit plateau, and put out some more calls.  It was still difficult, but with a bit of persistence I managed to qualify.
