Sunday 3rd September 2006 was the sixth and final day of mine and Jimmy's WB adventure. We were on target to have the whole region of 24 summits activated in the six days, as well as the three 'bonus' summits from over the border in Wales. Our first two of the day offered a great opportunity for a flying start, so we rose early in the hostel and slipped out before anyone else was about.
From Bridges, it was a straightforward five minute drive up the hill to the English Nature car park at SO 369 976. Jimmy and I raced enthusiastically up the broad path to the rocky summit. He continued enthusiastically up the rocks to touch the trig, while I contented myself with my position at the foot of the rock formations and set up the SOTA Beam. The RSGB 144MHz Trophy contest stations were still going strong, while additional stations were by now warming up their equipment for the RSGB 144MHz Backpackers' contest to commence later.
A pleasant early morning activation was closed just before 9am local, and we packed up and drove the car up the other side of Bridges for an activation of Long Mynd-Pole Bank G/WB-005. Many thanks to the following stations worked:
