Liam leads the way up Boulsworth Hill    Jimmy & Liam reach the trig point on Boulsworth Hill

We activated this summit on 26th April 2003.  There is convenient roadside parking available between the two reservoirs at SD 903 362.  This is right by the Pendle Way / Bronte Way footpath which we followed for about a mile and a half.  When the path reaches what appears to be a low point before it begins to rise again (SD 921 366), there is an information board about the concessionary circular route footpath up Boulsworth Hill, on land owned by United Utilities.  Here we turned right and headed up the very steep hill - another where the new Leki walking pole will be put to good use next time around.  We were relatively late at the summit this time, only completing the activation at 7pm BST!  We also suffered a heavy hail and rain storm on the summit, with a few small rocks providing only meagre shelter.  Hardly anyone around on the bands, certainly no response to my CQ calls on S20, but fortunately there was a net of stations in the Leeds and Barnsley areas on 145.225 MHz.  One station was no problem to work, but the other three were, and their patience in persevering until we had each other's reports and details correct was much appreciated!  Callsign today was MX1SWL/P, club callsign of the International Short Wave League (ISWL) - see my radio page for more details.  We did not complete the "circle" of the circular concessionary Boulsworth Hill path - time was getting on, and even by retracing our steps for the most direct route, it was 8.30pm by the time we returned to the car - wet through following a heavy shower during the last 25 minutes of walking!

Thanks to the following stations, all worked on 2m FM with 2.5 watts:
