Bradnor Hill 2005

Bank Holiday Monday 30th May 2005 - Utilising the advice given by Pete and Don, we drove across Kington, picking up signs for the golf course.  The road continues past the car park and club house, and out onto the hill, past a reassuring National Trust sign.  At the point where a sign prohibits further vehicle progress, we took the last of five parking spaces and set off walking up the rest of the road.  The fairways and greens then giveway to rougher ground, heather with green paths networked through it.  Believing we had left the golf course behind, in this wide expanse of rough ground, we were surprised when we reached the summit, which appeared to have a putting green bang on it!  We etreated a little to the south and set up under the gaze of interested but tolerant golfers (not like the horrid ones at a club near me that has PROWs running across it...).

A S2S contact with Andrew M0LKB/P on Worcestershire Beacon G/WB-009 and the Mafia gave me the point, and we made the quick descent to the car.

Thanks to the following stations, all worked on 2m FM with 2.5 watts:
