Worcestershire Beacon, G/WB-009 - 425m ASL - SO 768 452 - OS Explorer 190 - 1 SOTA point           

SOTA road trip, Day 7 - Friday 7th August 2020

I hadn't set an alarm for my overnight stay at Tewkesbury Travelodge, and allowed myself to wake up naturally.  This I did around 7.30am, and I put the breakfast television news on, and the kettle for a coffee.  Soon I was off on a short drive up to Great Malvern for the first summit of the day.  In order to use the most pleasant and easy-going path to the summit, I parked in the expensive pay-and-display on Beacon Road at the south end of the hill.

It was a hot sunny morning, suitable for T-shirt and sunglasses even at this early hour.  Up went the 17m groundplane antenna beside the bench near the summit, and I worked 12 contacts - 7 on CW and 5 on SSB.  I reversed the walk and set off for the second of what would be a nine-summit day - May Hill G/WB-019.
