Wednesday 1st May 2005 - From May Hill G/WB-019, we travelled NNW on the B4216 and A417. A timely supermarket provided hot chicken & mushroom and steak pies, and three large bags of pork scratchings. We turned right off the A417 signed Pencombe, and finally up to Hegdon Hill. This was another where we drove virtually to the trig point, and then drove out to a parking spot that was respectfully away from the summit. Liam took up the option of waiting in the car again. There was something on 475, so I left the handy on 450 for him. Pity I forgot! Jimmy and myself walked back up to the field containing the trig point, and also around twenty bullocks. We elected to set up on a gate leading into theis field, but chose not to enter, as the bullocks were extremely lively and inquisitive.
Throughout our time there, the bullocks edged closer to us step by step, and then would suddenly run away a few yards, The the cycle would repeat. Seven contacts on 2m FM were made to qualify the 13th and final summit of our 5-day adventure. Thanks to the following stations, all worked on 2m FM, the first two on 2.5 watts, and the rest on 5 watts:
