Moel y Gamelin 2014

Sunday 19th January 2014

Moel y Gamelin and Cyrn-y-Brain
A favourite walking day for this walking man
Begins with a slog up Moel y Faen
Keeping up with G3CWI as quick as I can

Mist in the valleys to the East of the hill        Summit of Moel y Gamelin

VK was the first response on 12 meter
Jimmy has a flask of sweet tea - half a litre
On 2m he works M1CNL - Peter
Richard keeps warm with his charcoal heater

After 15 QSOs I descend for me dinner
Steak pie at Ponderosa won't make me thinner
Very busy as usual "Not much room at the inner"
A great feed as always, must be a winner

Jimmy setting up the MFD        Richard G3CWI

Activation two, a walk up the track
Done it many times, still I come back
Belly full, no need for a snack
But sweet tea was taken when energy I lack

Richard G3CWI        Jimmy M0HGY

USA dominates as propagation turns west
As signals go, N4EX is best
North America accounts for much of the rest
But damp ground and wet trousers is a bit of a pest

Moel y Gamelin summit cairn        Jimmy M0HGY & Richard G3CWI at Ponderosa

The Ponderosa Pair, therein lies the rub
Two activations separated by the finest of grub
As SOTA days go, there is no sub
And as ever we conclude with a pint in the pub
