Rhinog Fawr, GW/NW-023 - 720m ASL - SH 656 290 - OS Explorer OL18 - 6 SOTA points
We headed out to Snowdonia for another SOTA trip on the morning of Sunday 22nd July 2018. The first target was Rhinog Fawr, which we approached from the East. This was a super and enjoyable walk. We made good time to the summit.
Lunch was the lovely Seafood Gumbo soup, which we both enjoyed. I operated on 20m CW, while Jimmy did 2m FM. We both made plenty of QSOs, including S2S.
It had been overcast and rather grey for much of the day, but during the descent, the skies cleared and the sun came out, giving us a very pleasant walk down and some stunning views.
We checked in at Snowdon Ranger youth hostel, and went out to the Cwellyn Arms for dinner and beer. I was amused that my new Fitbit watch thought that I might get down to 16 stone within 5 weeks, or indeed that "every day would be like today"!
The next morning we would tackle the Nantlle Ridge, starting with Trum y Ddysgl GW/NW-024.
