On the evening of Friday 8th July 2016, I was gigging with the Motown Gold band in Nottingham. As I was also working with that band in Leeds on the Saturday night, I decided to book a cheap hotel in Nottingham and stay out. This gave me the opportunity of a lazy Saturday with a couple of easy (and incredibly uninspiring) SOTA "summits". After the gig, I made my way to the hotel to be greeted at the door by two women asking "Any business love?". I politely declined, although I have no idea what they might be selling at 1 o'clock in the morning!
So after breakfast on the Saturday morning, I hit the road and made my way to Normanby Top, the highest point of the Lincolnshire Wolds. I couldn't be bothered setting up for HF as it was raining continuously. This being a big flat activation zone, I simply put my waterproof coat on and went for a wander down the lane with my VX7 handheld. It took a while to rack up the four QSOs, but I did eventually, and I could get off towards Bishop Wilton Wold G/TW-004.
