On Sunday 5th March 2006, we made a more traditional early start and headed North for breakfast at the McDonalds just off the A56 south of Rawtenstall. We then continued our journey to Pendle Hill G/SP-005, walking in from the usual parking area to the East of the hill. The climb up the side was the simplest ever, with the stone groundworks now complete from start to finish. We perched on the edge of the hill (not bad for me) and worked plenty of stations with half a watt and a rubber duck aerial on the FT-817, including the Essex nomads on Stony Cove Pike G/LD-018 for S2S. One of these was an International Short Wave League member, so we exchanged our ISWL numbers of G-20843 and G-20848 for his, in the common pursuit of the Monitor Award. Thanks to the following stations, all worked on 2m FM with 0.5 watts, except for the Stony Cove Pike operators who had the luxury of 2.5 watts thrown in their direction, and G4BLH who was worked on 70cm for his 2nd contact:
