Penycloddiau 2003

This summit was walked and activated on Saturday 14th June 2003, by myself, accompanied by Jimmy and Liam.  We followed the M56 and A494 to Mold, the took the A541 in a NW direction.  Bearing left signpost Nannerch, and then keeping left, we arrived at the car park at SJ 138 668.  We then followed the land rover track through the wooded area, although we should really have bore right up the signpost Offa's Dyke path (marked with an acorn symbol).  No problem, as at SJ 127 675, a track leads up the bank to a style, over which we climbed and continued ascending the hill, including going across some burnt out heather.  This enabled us to rejoin the Offa's Dyke path, and up to the summit cairn.  The path and summit were busy with walkers and mountain bikers, and 2m was busy as well, with no less than 10 stations queueing up to work me - and Keith GW0OXV/P who was simultaneously on Foel Fenlli NW-051, and between us we had quite a SOTA net going!

Tom activates Penycloddiau, while Liam plays in the dirt!     Activating, and relaxing on Penycloddiau NW-054

We returned to the car by descending entirely on the Offa's Dyke path.
