Saturday 21st December 2019 - Sharp Haw G/NP-029 & Rombalds Moor G/NP-028 Gig: Christmas Live! Venue: Doncaster Racecourse
After Sharp Haw G/NP-029, I drove back down through Skipton and towards Keighley. I turned up the steep roads towards Ilkley Moor and parked at the end of the cul-de-sac beside the transmitter compound.
It was a bit misty and drizzly, but I was here and so I was definitely going to press on and collect my activator point. The easy walk to the trig point was completed at a good brisk pace, and I started to call CQ 2m on my handheld.
No less the nine QSOs were made on 2m FM, and all in a space of 25 minutes. This seemed a significant improvement on my visit in 2018. I was very pleased as I now had opportunity to be back in Doncaster very early, so plenty of time to have a shower, relax on my bed in the lodge hotel room, watch the Saturday afternoon sports coverage and enjoy a mug of coffee.
We closed the season with another good show. It had been a lot of fun and very enjoyable working with this enthusiastic, bubbly, talented and highly professional team. Fingers crossed that it might all happen again in December 2020.
After the show, exactly as anticipated, everyone else in the band and cast got into their cars to drive home. Again, I made use of the accommodation that was freely available and enjoyed a restful comfortable night's sleep. I would make my way home on the Sunday morning, again via an activation of Shining Tor G/SP-004.
