Stingwern Hill 2005

After returning to the car from Y Golfa GW/NW-061, we required a precise navigation of the narrow windy lanes to reach the parking spot of our next summit - Stingwern Hill GW/MW-030.  A patch of grass between two water board gates provided the only possibility for parking along this lane, but conveniently, this was directly opposite the "Secret Path".  A metre or so of the thick hedge is cut away, and a metre or so of the barbed wire is "unbarbed", allowing for reasonable passage into the field, and indeed, this is marked as the start of a PROW on the OS 1:25000 map.

It was only a 4 minute yomp to the summit from here, and after setting up, we treated ourselves to the delights of Spicy Parsnip soup from my flask.  The first station heard was Dave MW0DFA/P on Elidir Fawr GW/NW-005, but he had to pack up abruptly (XYL orders I understand) before working me.  It was harder than usual, but eventually after 45 minutes, I had the 4th contact, and we could make the rapid descent to the car.  Onwards and upwards to Long Mountain-Beacon Ring GW/MW-026!
