Agnew's Hill 2003

This was the third out of four summits activated in the Antrim Hills on the third day of our short holiday in County Antrim, Northern Ireland.  In the morning I had activated Carn Hill  AH-010 and Big Collin AH-008, and following this activation we rounded things off with Slemish AH-007.  It was Wednesday 23rd April, and a lovely hot sunny day, although this summit was pretty damp right up to the top.  We headed SW out of Larne on the A8, then taking the A36 Ballymena Road, and right again signposted "Carnalbanagh".  At the highest point of this road D 326 028, there was a convenient parking space at the side of the road, just around 100m from the Ulster Way footpath, which we then followed up the steep damp hill.  We activated from the summit cairn (pictured) and made the required contacts, including a cross-Irish Sea SOTA to SOTA with Alan M1EYO on LD-030 Black Combe.
