Saturday 5th October 2019 - Hegdon Hill G/WB-023 & Burton Hill G/WB-020 Gig: Simon Faulkner Band Venue: Lemore Manor, Eardisley After Hegdon Hill G/WB-023, I had time for one more activation before getting to my gig. I parked on a cul-de-sac to the East of the summit, and approached via the ridge meaning that only minimal height gain was required. On the early part of the walk I chatted to Richard G3CWI/P using my handheld, and then to a couple of local stations who were interested to know about where I was working.
When I reached the trig point, I made five QSOs on 2m FM with the handheld, but then set up to work on 30m FT8 - adding another five contacts. After packing up, I still had some time, so went for a little explore to find the actual true summit. This was up a small bank and amongst some featureless undergrowth!
After the gig with the Simon Faulkner Band, I set my satnav for Gospel Pass, the saddle between Black Mountain GW/SW-041 and Lord Hereford's Knob, south of Hay-on-Wye. My plan here was to park in the small car park on the pass, recline the seat, deploy the pillows and get some sleep in the car!
