From Ditchling Beacon G/SE-006, we progressed to our third of five summits along the South Downs through the county of Sussex. This summit is right in the middle of a golf course, so needs to be negotiated carefully so as not to interrupt the golfers, or unwittingly walk across fairways or greens. We managed to do this and get into the activation zone, where we found a patch of rough ground between gorse bushes off the side of the golf course. This was a suitable spot to set-up.
While it was quiet, Jimmy did nip over to the trig point for a photo. We spoke to a couple of golfers up there, one who wasn't very friendly, and one who was! Anyway, we got our requisite numbers of QSOs, and descended.
Time was marching on, and we were a little behind schedule. I checked in with the progress of the rest of the band who were travelling down from the Sheffield area, and confirmed the soundcheck deadline. We were just about OK to fit in the remaining two summits, starting with Firle Beacon G/SE-010.
