Friday 30th August 2019

I must have been tired!  It was gone 9am before I woke up in the spare room at my sister-in-law's house in Chandlers Ford.  I got up and had coffee, breakfast and a chat with Charmaine, before heading out around 11am.  Therefore it was early afternoon by the time I'd made it to the car park on Ditchling Beacon.  Even then I spent time catching up on messages and enquiries on my phone, plus some publicity for Liam's band gigs and radio programmes.  All this conspired to make it an unusually late hour for the first activation of a day - and meant that an opportunity to bag possible five or six summits was blown, and there would be no more than two!

Just four QSOs made on 40m FT8, on another baking hot summer afternoon.  I managed to book a late room at the Europa Gatwick hotel, so rather than continue on the South Downs summits towards Eastbourne, I now headed north for Crowborough G/SE-007.
