Mynydd Eppynt, GW/SW-018 - 478m ASL - SN 961 464 - OS Explorer 188 - 1 SOTA point            

SOTA road trip, Day 2 - Sunday 2nd August 2020

From Cefn Cenarth GW/MW-039 it seemed a long and tedious drive across to the military firing range at Eppynt.  So much so that I wondered if the optimisation algorithm in my satnav had failed, or the even less likely possibility that Jimmy M0HGY had advised me badly!  At least upon arrival there would not be much of a walk!  Due to the out-of-bounds nature of the firing zone, the only real option was to set up on the grass adjacent to the track entrance where I'd parked the car!

Such was the unsatisfying nature of the hill and the lack of walking opportunities, I was more than happy to rush through a low-effort activation!  This aim was slightly thwarted by no-one answering my CW CQ calls after I'd made two QSOs.  I had to resort to FT8, after which point I qualified the activation easily.  I could then make my way to another easy - but far more pleasant summit - Hafod Ithel GW/MW-029.
