This summit was activated on Sunday 18th July 2004, by myself, accompanied by Jimmy and Liam.
After the joys of Mynydd Enlli GW/NW-072, Steve INK joined
Jimmy, Liam and myself for lunch in Aberdaron, although sadly the only open pub did not
offer any appropriate ales, to the minimum requirements of a CAMRA enthusiast like Steve!
He set off for home, while me and the kids went for a final fling to Mynydd Rhiw
GW/NW-064. We drove to the village of Rhiw, and turned up the road to the first
transmitter at SH 224 285. From here, we could see that vehicle access was permitted
further up the access track to the higher transmitter, so we used this to save a little
time and leave a shorter walk as the last one of a long weekend. We made directly
from the car over the field and up the hillock to the trig point, and then shelter on one
side of it to operate. Four quick 2m FM contacts were made, including Steve well on
his way and Roger and Rick descending Yr Eifl GW/NW-075, and
reporting similar wonderful views and conditions to that which I had advertised to them!
Thanks to all the following stations worked on this activation, all worked on 2m FM with 2.5 watts:
