Penycloddiau 2015

This was the fourth of five summits on Sunday 7th June 2015.  After descending Moel Famau GW/NW-044 to the car park at Bwlch Pen Barras, I usually make a meal of navigating to the parking spot for Penycloddiau, and today was no exception.  I took the westerly road from Bwlch Pen Barras down to the A494 and right onto the B5429 no problem, but then it was a bit like the blind leading the blind, so to say.

After a few attempts, I located the small parking area, kitted up and got cracking.  The standard route following the Offa's Dyke Path above a steep wooded area was walked.  I was surprised to find a chap fast asleep in a hammock just off the path.  I admired the confidence he had in his hammock and its deployment, hanging precariously over such a steep drop!  I know I certainly wouldn't get any sleep in such a situation.

Antenna and lovely views        Penycloddiau summit

The summit was as pleasant as ever, and I set up the 10m antenna.  First up was a S2S with Simon GW4TJC/P on Y Garn GW/NW-004, followed by three more 10m CW QSOs.  Just one was added on 10m SSB, and my thoughts turned to the fifth and final summit of the day - Mynydd y Cwm GW/NW-076.
