The Begwns 2020

Monday 20th January 2020 - Black Mountain GW/SW-041, The Begwns GW/MW-025 & Bradnor Hill G/WB-011

From Black Mountain GW/SW-041, it was a fairly short drive to grab a quick activation of The Begwns.  We parked on a grass verge at the side of the country lane nearest to the summit, and followed the wide grassy path up to the summit, known as "The Roundabout".

Liam at The Begwns        Lovely day in Mid Wales

Liam found a shaded spot to indulge in a bit of Nintendo gaming while waiting for me to get my QSOs.  I didn't find any particular spot, but wandered all around the outside of The Roundabout's boundary stone wall, finding optimum spots for whoever I was working at the time.

This summit proved a little more difficult to qualify just using a handheld, but nonetheless, this was still achieved in just over 20 minutes.  It remained another beautiful day in Mid Wales, and with Liam borrowing my usual hat, the unique combination of Christmas elf hat and sunglasses was entirely necessary.  I first deployed this combo on stage at Christmas Live at Doncaster Racecourse in late 2019 for the Wizzard song "I Wish It Could Be Christmas Every Day"!  It would be more difficult to explain now though, in Wales in mid-January.  So I hoped no other walkers would pass by, and that no-one actually reads this webpage...!

Tom        Liam gaming!

The timings were working out well to squeeze one more summit activation in before getting to the Indian restaurant later.  I decided to go for Bradnor Hill G/WB-011.
