View Edge 2013

From Callow Hill G/WB-015 on Thursday 29th August 2013, we passed through Craven Arms and took the A49 south for a short distance before turning sharp right. This winding country lane eventually brought us up to the gate by the entrance to the quarry and SSSI, and I pulled in the car onto the verge here.  A very short walk took us alongside the road up towards the farm, ducking under a few low branches and eventually bearing right uphill to the highest point within the enclosure. This was still a few feet lower than the true summit, which is in some bushes beyond the rear boundary of the farm, and inaccessible.

This time 24MHz was not in such good shape, although I was lulled into a false sense of security when Rich N4EX in North Carolina came back to my initial CQ call on CW. But that was the only CW QSO of the activation, and just four more were added, all groundwave contacts on 12m SSB.

Never mind, that gave more time for enjoying the Heinz chicken & vegetable Big Soup from the flask, as well as no time pressure on getting in a third activation of the day. It was off to Burrow G/WB-014 to complete the "Craven Arms Three".
