Callow Hill, G/WB-015 - 334m ASL - SO 459 849 - OS Explorer 217 - 1 SOTA point Saturday 3rd October 2020 - Walton Hill G/CE-002, High Vinnalls G/WB-012, Burrow G/WB-014, Callow Hill G/WB-015 & Caer Caradoc Hill G/WB-006 From Burrow G/WB-014, I drove back across through Craven Arms and beyond Lower Dinchope to the parking spot at SO457853.
Initially, a wide flat path leads to a large turning circle. From here there's two options - either bear right for an insanely steep muddy scramble to the ridge, or bear left for a much more graded zigzag to eventually gain the same height. On my first ever activation of this hill back in 2003, I went right and took the direct route. Never, ever again!
Matt 2E0MDJ and Stewart G0LGS were both worked again on 2m C4FM. It was then a bit of work to get the two further QSOs for the activation point, but these eventually came on 2m FM (analogue). I reversed my ascent route to return to the car, then drove north up the A49 to the other side of Church Stretton, and Caer Caradoc Hill G/WB-006.
