SOTA road trip, Day 3 - Monday 3rd August 2020
From Mynydd Sylen GW/SW-036, I followed the satnav to Pen-crug-melyn. I knew parking options would be very limited on the narrow cul-de-sac lane outside the farm, but fortunately there was space for me to tuck in my car on the verge.
I walked up the track leading to Pen-crug-melyn farmhouse, but did not enter the main yard. Instead, I diverted left onto rough ground and approached the summit directly. The trig point could be seen atop a grass bank just the other side of a wire fence. I remained on this side of the fence and set up my antenna. Four contacts came in just two minutes on 17m CW - but then no-one else called despite a self-spot and more CQs from me. I didn't really want to leave the car on that verge for too long anyway, and I had plenty of summits to go at in the day, so I packed up and got away to the next one on the list - Mynydd Cynros GW/MW-034.
