This summit was activated by me in a solo expedition on Thursday 26th June 2003.
Approaching via Bridgnorth and then down the B4364 to Cleobury North, I
turned right here and followed the lane around the north of the hill until I found the
start of the PROW at SO 595 878. I followed the winding muddy track up through the trees,
emerging with an army of flies swarming around my perspiring head. At the top of the first
field, I should have bore east along the track to meet the access road for the wireless
station at the summit, but I instead followed the route marked on the map that cut the
corner, but in fact was not defined in any way and resulted in difficult walking over
chopped down trees, uneven ground and long grasses. By the time I had reached the
trig point, the swarm of flies buzzing around me was starting to make me feel personally
insulted. I lost them by sitting down on the ground, leaning my back on the trig, and
covering my head with my coat, plucked out of my rucksack - quite a useful trick this. Callsign today was MX1SWL/P, club callsign of the International Short Wave League (ISWL) - see my radio page for more details. Thanks to the following stations worked, all on 2m FM with 1 watt:
