Garth Hill, GW/SW-034 - 307m ASL - ST 103 835 - OS Explorer 151 - 1 SOTA point SOTA road trip, Day 4 - Tuesday 4th August 2020 From Cefn Eglwysilan GW/SW-025 it was a short drive down the Taff Vale for Garth Hill. The roadside parking area on the narrow lane by the start of the Taff Ely Ridgeway Walk path was pretty busy, but fortunately another vehicle was just leaving shortly after my arrival. I waited patiently for them to complete their (2n+1) point turn, then took the parking space!
The walk is short and steepish, but easy on a very good path. The trig point and burial mound at the summit was pretty busy with walkers, so I set up a short distance away to keep out of the way. I was pleased to find that the 17m band was still in good shape, and again the CW contacts came easily, including a welcome S2S with Adrian GW4AZS/P who was on Stingwern Hill GW/MW-030.
The next target summit, and the penultimate activation for the day, was Mynydd y Lan GW/SW-024.
